PRIMARY pupils, aged between seven and 12, are welcome to join a badminton clinic that will be organised by the Air Itam service centre.
Known as the ‘Swing That Racket with Chan Peng Soon’, the initiative is to encourage the pupils to pick up basic badminton skills at an early age.
The two-day training will take place at the Desa Permata Sports Complex in Paya Terubong. It will be held from 9am to 11.30am on Feb 27 and from 2.30pm to 5pm on Feb 28.
Air Itam assemblyman Joseph Ng said Peng Soon, one of Malaysia’s best mixed doubles players, would be present for the clinic on Feb 27. There will also be other coaches involved in running the clinic.
“The participants will undergo a total of five hours of training for the two-day clinic and they will receive a certificate of participation as well.
“So far, 150 pupils have shown interest to take part. We hope more pupils will join the clinic,” he told reporters at Desa Permata Sports Complex in Paya Terubong today.
Ng said the closing date for the online registration is Feb 20.
The registration fee, inclusive of a T-Shirt, for each participant is RM10.
Participants are advised to bring their rackets for the training sessions.
