The Covid-19 vaccination centre (PPV) in Bagan Specialist Centre has started its operation.
The hospital joined seven other private hospitals in Penang which are currently vaccinating the people.
The other private hospitals are the Lam Wah Ee Hospital, Loh Guan Lye Specialist Centre, Pantai Hospital Penang, KPJ Penang Specialist Hospital, Penang Adventist Hospital, Gleneagles Hospital and Optimax Eye Specialist Hospital.
Bagan Specialist Centre managing director Dr Tan Hui Ling said the hospital’s PPV had started its operation since June 28.
“We are very honoured to support the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP) and do our best to vaccinate as many people as possible.
“At the moment, we will administer 50 doses of Covid-19 vaccines per day.
“We hope to increase it to 100 doses and subsequently to 200 doses in the following weeks if we receive enough vaccine supplies.
“To date, a total of 150 individuals has been inoculated at the Bagan Specialist Centre since it started operating three days ago,” Dr Tan told Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow during his visit to the private hospital in Butterworth today.
Also present were State Secretary Datuk Abdul Razak Jaafar, state Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin, Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) mayor Datuk Rozali Mohamud, Bagan Specialist Centre chief executive officer Cheow Jen Hurn and Bagan Specialist Centre medical director Tan Thean Cheong.
According to Chow, a total of 1,047,169 people (76.6%) in Penang had registered for the NIP vaccination programme as of June 29.
“I think we can do better to encourage more people to register.
“Meanwhile, a total of 287,122 people has received their first dose; while 116,779 have completed their second dose.
“I urge all Penangites to register for the Covid-19 vaccination via the MySejahtera app if they have yet to do so,” he said.
