CONSTRUCTION of the Bandar Cassia Technology Park (BCTP) is progressing smoothly, with full completion targeted for 2026.

Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who also serves as the Penang Development Corporation (PDC) chairman, shared that the project includes not only the construction of the industrial park itself but also comprehensive earthworks and infrastructure development.

“Commenced in 2022, the BCTP spans 303 acres of net industrial land and represents a state-of-the-art industrial hub.

“The project is divided into five phases: Phase 1A (60 acres) and Phase 1B (57.27 acres), Phase 2 (27.47 acres), Phase 3 (45.45 acres), Phase 4A (25.46 acres) and Phase 4B (9.86 acres), and Phase 5A (25.32 acres) and Phase 5B (51.86 acres).

“This new industrial park reflects Penang’s commitment to catering to the growing demands of both local and international investors,” Chow said.

Chow further revealed that 144 acres of the industrial land have already been completed, with construction ongoing for the remaining 159 acres, which includes road works, the sewerage treatment plant, and electrical infrastructure.

“Currently, two investors have begun constructing their manufacturing facilities within BCTP,” he added during a site visit today.

PDC chief executive officer Datuk Aziz Bakar was also in attendance.

Chow emphasised that the selection process for potential investors would be rigorous.

“We are focused on attracting investors who adhere to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.

“We are prioritising green and high-tech industries in Batu Kawan.

“We encourage investors who meet these criteria to explore opportunities in BCTP.

“Compared to 2022, our readiness has significantly improved, and we are well-positioned to welcome more investors,” Chow said.

Following his visit to BCTP, Chow toured Taman Cassia Cempaka, a PDC housing project.
