REGARDED as one of the oldest sport clubs in Penang, the Youngsters Basketball Club will be oganising a three-on-three basketball tournament at the Esplanade on Aug 27.
Jointly organised with the Kampung Kolam Village Community Management Council (MPKK), the tournament is open to the public and is divided into five categories.
They are Under-15, 17, 19 and 23 for men, and Under-18 for women.
Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng encouraged interested participants to come forward and take part in the tournament after a two-year hiatus due to Covid-19.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Youngsters Basketball Club for advocating healthy sports activities for the past 88 years.
“Thank you also for choosing to collaborate with my Kampung Kolam MPKK team, and we hope through this collaboration, more events will be organised in the future,” Teh said in his speech during the three-on-three basketball tournament press conference at the Yeng Keng Hainan restaurant in George Town today.
The top three teams will each walk away with RM1,200, RM800 and RM600 respectively.
A fee of RM150 will be charged for registration. Entries close on Aug 20 by 5pm.
