THE Penang Development Corporation (PDC) has been told to wait for the operator of a cemetery in Batu Kawan to come forward.
“We are open to negotiation if the operator is willing to come forward.
“The Land Office has not updated us. The status is still the same since the enforcement action,” Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow replied a journalist during a press conference in Komtar today.
It was reported that a businessman had paid a heavy price for allegedly encroaching into government’s land and for obstructing enforcement officers from performing their duties.
The businessman is the owner of two plots of land (Lot 1450 and 1451) in Batu Kawan which he used as a burial ground. He had allegedly encroached into the state’s land (Lot 248 and 1449) which were located next to his land, after he had fully occupied his land.
Chow also said that family members who bought the burial plots located on the state’s land had met with Bukit Tambun assemblyman Goh Choon Aik.
