SUNGAI Pinang assemblyman Lim Siew Khim today advised her constituents to be extra vigilant and cautious about the Covid-19 pandemic after six awareness banners were hung up in her constituency.

She said the banners, which were put up by the health authorities over the past few days, were meant to inculcate the importance of adhering to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to curb the spread of virus in the community.

She said the banners were indirectly meant to inform the public that they are located in the red zone.

“The Covid-19 pandemic is getting serious each day and I really urge everyone to play their role to stop the spread of the virus.

The constituents waiting to have their screening tests.

“It’s important for all of us to get ourselves vaccinated as there are many new variants out there.

“We can’t take anything for granted even if we have been fully vaccinated. Compliance with the SOPs is the way to go in this ongoing pandemic situation,” she told reporters after inspecting the mass screenings held at Balai Rakyat Taman Sri Pinang in Jalan Patani.

The screening was held from 11am to 5pm.

As of noon, Lim said nearly 500 people have come forward for the tests.

“It’s a good indication for us to know whether we are infected,” she added.
