THE Batu Lancang food court complex just recently had its exisiting eight units of air coolers replaced with higher capacity units.

Batu Lancang assemblyman Ong Ah Teong expressed his hopes that the installation of the new coolers with 1.5KW and an airflow of 23,000m3h (compared with the previous one of 1.1KW and airflow of 18,000m3h), would bring better comfort to the 116 stall owners and food court patrons.

Also present was member of Parliament for Jelutong R.S.N. Rayer.

“The cost of installation of eight new units of air coolers amounting to RM86,000 was borne by the Penang Island City Council licensing department and its upkeep would be taken care by the council’s maintenance group,” Ong told a press conference at the complex this morning.

“On the issue of low water pressure for the complex, we have requested PBA to look into the matter. They have to see if there is a need to change the entire piping system as the complex, built in 1986, is now more than 30 years old. There may be leakage in the water piping system.”
