A NEW initiative aimed at enhancing healthcare accessibility for students was officially launched today following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between BIGCARiNG Group and StudyPenang.
The partnership, formalised in a ceremony today at Komtar, marks a significant step in improving student well-being in Penang.
State Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai, who officiated the event, highlighted the importance of the collaboration in positioning Penang as not only an education hub but also a destination that prioritises student welfare.
“This partnership marks an exciting milestone in our ongoing efforts to support the well-being of students, an integral part of ensuring the continued success and vibrancy of Penang,” Wong said.

He added that StudyPenang has been actively working to establish Penang as a preferred destination for international students by providing a conducive academic environment alongside world-class healthcare services.
The newly launched Student Privilege Program will offer a range of healthcare benefits, including professional pharmacy services, vaccination support and health education initiatives. Wong emphasised that ensuring students have access to affordable and high-quality healthcare allows them to focus on their academic success and personal development.
BIGCARiNG Group chief executive director Lee Meng Chuan stated that the company firmly believes health is the foundation of success.
“As students dedicate themselves to their academic journey, they should never have to worry about access to quality healthcare. Our partnership with StudyPenang is built on a shared vision to ensure that students receive the support they need to stay healthy, informed, and protected,” Lee said.
The Student Privilege Program will provide students with access to high-quality medical products and services, including campus vaccination programmes, health education initiatives and exclusive discount coupons via membership registration.

Also present were StudyPENANG executive director Dr Mary Ann Harris, Georgetown-Wellings Pharmacy director Tan Zhen Yao and Penang Global Tourism (PGT) chief executive officer Ooi Chok Yan.
