THEY believed they could make a difference through charity, and they are none other than HTC Motorcycle Club.
HTC, the acronym for ‘Happiness Through Charity,’ reflects the club’s commitment to making a positive impact in communities.
Comprised mainly of bikers from the northern states of Penang, Perak, and Kedah, the club has steadily grown its presence through various charitable activities.
For the first time, HTC collaborated with the Air Itam State Constituency Service Centre to bring some joy to the Little Sisters of the Poor, a Catholic-run care home for the elderly in Air Itam.
Air Itam assemblyman Joseph Ng Soon Siang, together with tens of bikers, sponsored lunch for the residents and presented a cheque for RM5,000 to support the home.
“I would like to thank HTC Motorcycle Club for spending quality time with the residents today and, more importantly, for their generous contribution, which will go a long way towards supporting the home.
“My office warmly welcomes the support from such groups that have a passion towards charity. Moving forward, we hope to continue with our efforts of giving back to the community, even if only in small yet meaningful ways,” Ng said in his speech during the simple celebration at the home earlier today.
The event was organised by Edward Yeoh, an active member of the HTC Motorcycle Club, who led the initiative to bring the group together for this meaningful cause.
Sister P. Philomena, one of the nuns currently overseeing the home, shared that the monthly operating expenses range between RM110,000 and RM120,000, covering essentials such as food, diapers, staff salaries, and utilities.
