BookDoc offers free teleconsultation on Covid-19 to Penang users until end of this year

ONLINE platform BookDoc is offering free teleconsultation on Covid-19 to its users from Penang until the end of this year.

Its founder and chief executive officer Datuk Chevy Beh said the free teleconsultation initiative is a way to allow users seek quick consultation should they suspect any symptoms of Covid-19.

“The doctors can screen the affected patients quickly and appropriate measures can be taken to limit further contamination.

“The public are encouraged to download the BookDoc app which is available for free on Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

“Interested users may write to BookDoc at [email protected] to get their one-time unique code. This initiative shows our commitment and continuous support in combatting the outbreak,” Beh said in a statement today.

During a press conference in Komtar, Beh briefed the media about the BookDoc app features; such as search and book, Activ, teleconsult and event and news.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow welcomed the effort by BookDoc.

Chow addressing the media.

“The effort by BookDoc as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility will help encourage Penangites to embrace the new norm (digitally) and to further promote physical distancing through the tele-health function.

“Tele-health was a slow growing industry in the country prior to the Covid-19 crisis. However, the resulting lockdown measures led to a shift in consumer behaviour across all industries, including healthcare.

“I have been made to understand that the feature by BookDoc allows users to communicate and consult trained medical professionals from the comfort of their own home.

“This will certainly assist those with mobility concerns, or those who are more vulnerable to infections,” Chow told a press conference.

Chow added that the Penang government recognises the immense communication advantages that the digital world offers.

Also present were state Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin, Penang Agrotech and Food Security, Rural Development and Health Committee chairman Dr Norlela Ariffin and national squash player Low Wee Wern.
