PENANGITES have been told to be well prepared for any eventualities pending Monday’s announcement by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Putrajaya’s next course of action to curb Covid-19 pandemic.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow urged the people to brace themselves for any worst-case scenario in view of the recent surge of infections.

“Everyone is alarmed over the increasing number of cases each day while it shows no sign of abating.

“Organisations and industry players have been told to be ready for any possible outcome from the Monday’s announcement.

“It’s difficult to strike a balance between public health and economy.

“The conditional movement control order (CMCO) and recovery movement control order (RMCO) that are imposed could hardly bring down the cases.

“In fact, I have been invited to attend a Zoom meeting, which will be chaired by Muhyiddin at 2.30pm this coming Monday,” he said in his speech when attending the Real Estate and Housing Developers Association (Rehda) Penang Fellowship dinner at G Hotel Penang today.

Senior Minister for Security Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob called on Malaysians to await Muhyiddin’s announcement over the next government’s move.

Malaysia has continued to record high number of cases daily while medical experts have urged the authorities to implement stringent measures to control the pandemic.

Chow noted that the property sector was not spared from being impacted in this challenging period.

He, however, said Rehda Penang could overcome this hardship.

Chow, when concluding his speech, thanked Rehda Penang for being one of the state’s important stakeholders.

“The state is able to discuss some of the good policies with Rehda Penang, especially in these circumstances,” he said.

During the dinner, Chow sportingly went on stage to sing a few songs to entertain those present.

Also present were state Housing, Local Government, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo, state Tourism and Creative Economy chairman Yeoh Soon Hin, Rehda Penang chairman Tan Hun Beng, Rehda Penang immediate past chairman Datuk Toh Chin Leong, the event’s organising chairman Datuk David Fong and members of Rehda Penang.
