Bringing cheer to Paya Terubong

RESIDENTS of Paya Terubong can enjoy smoother rides to their destination after various road resurfacing projects were completed this year.

 

The road projects also include open space car parks.

 

Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh said a total RM553,529.89 was spent to ensure that the roads in Paya Terubong were upgraded and resurfaced.

 

He said that the safety of the motorists was utmost important.

 

“The Phase One (four projects) and Phase Two (seven projects) road projects were done so that the residents can have a comfortable and safe ride to their destination,” he told a press conference at the Desa Permata Village Community Management Council (MPKK) centre today.

 

Ramkarpal said RM243,717 was spent for projects in Phase One, while RM309,812.89 was spent on Phase Two.

 

He also said that RM52,196 was allocated to provide outdoor fitness equipment for six neighbourhoods in Bukit Gelugor.

Separately, Ramkarpal said he allocated RM20,758 to ensure that the Desa Permata MPKK is well equipped.

 

“The allocation is used to purchase a PA system set, a projector, two laptops, a printer and an air-conditioner,” he said.

Desa Permata MPKK chairman Ong Swee Jin expressed his appreciation to Ramkarpal for his contribution.

 

“We would like to thank him for his kind effort.

 

“We are lucky to have a Member of Parliament who is caring and is willing to put in a lot of effort for the community,” Ong said.

Later, Ramkarpal together with the Desa Permata MPKK members and media enjoyed ‘tang yuan’ (sweet glutinous rice balls) to celebrate the Winter Solstice festival.
