BRITISH High Commissioner to Malaysia Charles Hay has expressed his desire to see more collaborations with Penang to improve the economic and trade relations.

“I am very pleased to hear that there are many British companies investing in Penang nowadays.

“This shows that Penang has a lot of potential, especially in economic growth.

“I am very sure that there are many more areas for both Britain and Penang to look at,” Hay told Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow during a courtesy visit at his office in Komtar today.

Hay was accompanied by British High Commission political adviser Dr Lyana Khairuddin, political counsellor Daniel Painter and council director Peggy Lim.

Chow said Penang welcomes any possible collaboration between Penang and Britain to further boost the economic growth in the state for the benefit of its people.

“We focus on high value, high technology and skill-based investments that can provide more jobs for the people,” he said.

On a separate note, Hay praised the Penang government’s effort in setting up the Harmony Centre that promotes unity among different races and religions in Penang.
