SOON after the arrival of new year, Bukit Bendera MP Wong Hon Wai brought good news to four charitable organisations in Penang when he provided monetary help to them.
The organisations, namely Society of the Disabled Persons Penang, Ru Yi Chidlren’s Home, Persatuan Pemulihan Penyayang Orang Kurang Upaya Pulau Pinang and Shan Children’s Home, received RM10,000 each from Wong today.
“Since the movement control order (MCO) was implemented in March 2020, it has been tough financially for these non-profitable organisations.
“We hope the contribution would help to ease their burden this new year,” Wong said during the cheque presentation ceremony today.
It is learned that Wong has been assisting the organisations since he was elected as the Bukit Bendera MP in 2018.
“I would like to urge the public to come forward and contribute generously to these organisations,” he added.
Meanwhile, Persatuan Pemulihan Penyayang Orang Kurang Upaya Pulau Pinang treasurer Ooi Teik Hup said his organisation is building its new premises at the Mount Erskine neighbourhood.
“The construction of our new premises will be completed by end of this year, and we still need another RM50,000 for the project,” he said.
Also present during the ceremony were, Society of the Disabled Persons Penang president Datuk Teh Lay Kuan, Ru Yi Chidlren’s Home representative Ong Lay Keow and Penang Shan Children’s Home assistant administrator Sornalatha Kumarasamy.
