PENANG government’s official media, Buletin Mutiara, is continuing its publication besides strengthening its digital information channel.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said that based on research conducted, there was still a demand for the hardcopy of Buletin Mutiara.
“In general, more people are turning to social media for news. Social media has been growing rapidly, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“And, according to various researches, there were only about 15% who preferred print media as their news medium,” he replied to a supplementary question by Mohd Tuah Ismail (PH-Pulau Betong) during the question-and-answer session at the State Legislative Assembly today.
Chow said, nevertheless, Buletin Mutiara would continue with its print media since there was still a demand for the hardcopy.
“Among the efforts that have been taken to make the Buletin Mutiara the main tool in promoting the policies developed by the state government are ensuring the content of the publication is authentic and consistent with current needs; displaying clear and simple information in the form of infographics for the people of Penang; diversifying video and publications with current issues and interesting content; and diversifying news content and interviews,” Chow said.
