The annual Butterworth Miao Hui 2025 celebration, set to take place at Rumah Berhala Guan Yin Ting Dou Mu Gong in Butterworth, is expected to attract thousands of visitors over the weekend.
Bagan Jermal assemblyman Chee Yeeh Keen anticipates that the two-day event, starting this Saturday, will receive an overwhelming response from people in Seberang Perai and Penang island.
“The auspicious event, which will begin at 6.30pm on both days, is a collaborative effort by the Bagan Parliamentary Service Centre and Bagan Jermal Service Centre, with support from the state Tourism and Creative Economy (PETACE) office.
“Rumah Berhala Guan Yin Ting Dou Mu Gong is also playing a key role by collaborating with Han Chiang University College of Communication.
“This year’s Miao Hui will feature various exciting activities. I believe the event will offer immersive cultural performances for all attendees,” he said.
Chee highlighted that Miao Hui 2025 will focus on four main pillars: exhibitions, culture, food, and stage performances.
“The newly introduced interactive Spring Festival Cultural Experience exhibition zone will allow visitors to participate in various hands-on activities and interactive games. Activities will include making nian gao, calligraphy writing, crafting handmade red packets, lantern making, and preparing tang yuan,” he said.
Attendees can also look forward to entertainment performances by local artists as well as lucky draw prizes.
The grand prize is a motorcycle, followed by a diamond necklace and a gold necklace. Additionally, 100 pieces of 999 pure gold (0.1g each) will be given away in red packets.
