FROM a team of only 50 employees and a single manufacturing plant in Bukit Tengah to a team of over 1,000 employees, Hotayi Electronics has achieved significant milestones over the years.
The company celebrated another achievement this year when it hosted its 30th-anniversary jubilation at Setia SPICE Convention Centre this evening.
Hotayi chairman Datuk Seri Lee Hung Lung attributed the company’s success to the staff and supporters of Hotayi.
“Thank you for all the support throughout the years. Without you, we wouldn’t be here today.
“This is an incredible milestone and I am very excited to celebrate it with all of you,” he said in his speech.
He recalled the memorable journey of building Hotayi with a small group of dedicated employees back then.
“I used to make the factory as my home and sleep in it,” he said
Hotayi managing director Datuk Goh Guek Eng also lauded the staff and urged them to continue to perform their best.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said Hotayi embarked on bold moves over the years which comprised expanding its production, creating new jobs, and becoming strategic partners with manufacturers in the region.
“I am certainly pleased to see that Hotayi has grown tremendously since its humble beginnings and that the company has identified Penang as an ideal location to embrace its next growth phase.
“In addition to Hotayi’s decision to reinvest and deepen its roots in the state with its BK2 project in Batu Kawan, I was informed that Hotayi has invested a total of RM1.3 billion in its expansion projects in Penang to date.
“We certainly look forward to Hotayi continuing to drive the economic development of the state through its expansions, job opportunities and expertise,” Chow said.
The guests enjoyed a sumptuous dinner and took delight in various performances by the Hotayi staff.
Also present were Penang State Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk Law Choo Kiang, state Social Development and Non-Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Chong Eng, Air Itam assemblyman Joseph Ng, Batu Lancang assemblyman Ong Ah Teong, Jawi assemblyman H’ng Mooi Lye, and Sungai Pinang assemblyman Lim Siew Khim.
