PENANG will continue to rise as a beacon of progress and a symbol of unity and diversity, caretaker Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said.
He said the united support and commitment from every Penangite, coupled with a strong and stable state government, would see the state be developed better.
“If entrusted with the mandate to govern Penang for the next five years, we will build a future that leaves a lasting legacy for generations to come.
“Our vision for Penang is clear, which is to build a sustainable, equitable, and prosperous state that future generations will be proud to call home.
“Let us continue to foster collaboration, unity, and innovation. We will unlock the full potential of Penang through our collective efforts,” he said in his speech during the sixth INPenang International Awards 2023 at St Giles The Wembley Hotel yesterday evening.
The biennial international award ceremony, themed ‘The Way of Water’, paid homage to 17 exceptional individuals and organisations for their remarkable achievements in Penang.
The award was presented by Penang Governor Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak, who was the guest of honour during the event.
Chow extended his heartfelt gratitude to all the award recipients. He hoped the recipients’ success would propel the state to greater heights.
“I would also like to commend the organising chairman Datuk Ch’ng Huck Theng and his entire team for their remarkable efforts in realising this award ceremony,” he said.
Earlier, Ch’ng thanked the state for its support.
A cake-cutting ceremony was also held to celebrate the Penang Governor’s birthday.
Among those who received the awards were Malaysian Islamic Chamber of Commerce chairman Tan Sri Dr Mohd Yussof Latiff (INPenang Lifetime Achievement Award Winner), Star Media Group Berhad group advisor Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai (INPenang International Outstanding Achievers Award Winner), and Malaysian Para Swimmer Zy Lee Kher (INPenang Inspiration Award Winner).
Among those present during the event were caretaker state Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, and Penang Island City Council (MBPP) mayor Datuk A. Rajendran.
