IN honour of the World Autism Awareness Day this month, the Penang Shine Like Stars Association is organising an Autism Acceptance Campaign this Saturday (April 27).
The event will be held at the ground floor of Prangin Mall from 2pm to 8pm, featuring a charity food and fun fair as part of the fundraising activities.
Penang Shine Like Stars Association chairman Katherine Koo said the proceeds from the event would be channelled to the association.
“The event is to foster greater understanding and acceptance of autistic children while also raising funds for the association.
“The event will feature more than 40 stalls, selling a variety of foods, snacks, and desserts, with each food coupon priced at RM20.
“The event starts at 2pm, followed by stage performances by special needs children. We hope this platform can encourage them to showcase their talents to the crowd.
“Our goal is for these kids to receive respect and love from the community,” she said.
State Youth, Sports and Health Committee chairman Daniel Gooi had reportedly stressed the importance of equality and inclusiveness for children with special needs in society.
The Penang Shine Like Stars Association, a non-profit organisation, is located at Lorong Pykett, George Town.
