RENOWNED beauty and wellness brand, L’Occitane, is set to host its inaugural fundraising event in Penang, called ‘L’Occitane Race for Vision 2024’, on July 21 at Queensbay Mall.

More than just a race, the event is primarily aimed at making a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by visual impairment. It reflects L’Occitane’s commitment to supporting eye care initiatives and raising awareness about vision health.

L’Occitane aims to raise RM80,000 through this programme, with the funds being channelled to St Nicholas’ Home to finance cataract surgeries for its residents.

State Youth, Sports, and Health Committee chairman Daniel Gooi Zi Sen praised L’Occitane for this meaningful effort.

He highlighted the dual role of the event in offering hope to the visually impaired and engaging the public in a healthy activity.

“The hashtag (#FightAvoidableBlindness) for this event highlights the urgency of ending avoidable blindness and being a beacon of hope for those affected.

“It reminds us that there is always an opportunity to make a difference,” Gooi told a media conference in Komtar on June 14.

“Let us come together as one family to support this amazing activity, and always remember that we can all make a difference in the lives of those in need if we put our heart and soul into it,” he added.

L’Occitane Malaysia representative Celine Lee Wen Yin announced that 2,000 participants have already signed up for the race, out of the 3,000 target set.

“There is a fee of RM75 for each registration, and upon registering, participants will receive a goodie bag containing various L’Occitane products, vouchers from participating sponsors, and more,” Lee said.

Also present at the media conference was Queensbay Mall marketing communications manager Patricia Chin.
