State Housing, Local Government, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo, who launched the Charity Cup, said people should take up sports for their health and well-being.
“In line with the state’s vision to make Penang as a cleaner, greener, safer and healthier state, everybody should take care of their health by participating in any sports. Sports keep us healthy in many ways.
“I wish we can continue this Charity Cup effort next year as well. But I plan to change the venue to a large and further bigger compound as it is a way to increase the number of people participation,” said Jagdeep in his speech during the Badminton Charity Cup opening ceremony at SJK (C) Li Tek on June 29.
It is learnt that Jagdeep has sponsored RM7,000 cash while Protech Sport Company is sponsoring Protech racquet for the champion, Protech racket bag for second-placed finisher and Protech shoe bag for third-placed finisher.
