Cheers for Mother Earth

WHILE many hoteliers would have switched off their hotel non-essential lights to observe the Earth Hour tonight, Angsana Teluk Bahang did something extra to make the one-hour exciting for its guests.

Some 45 guests, both adults and children, took part in the ‘Shine a Light’ programme from 8.30pm to 9.30pm at the hotel’s Porte Cochere.

The hotel guests gathered at the Porte Cochere as early as 8pm to witness the lighting of candles, as well as the illuminating a giant map of Malaysia.

Among those present was hotel general manager Nigel Fisher.

Fisher said that Earth Hour was celebrated around the world.

“In our small ways, we are doing something tonight. We are turning our lights off for one hour and we are organising a special game called painting in the dark.

“The participants get to experience painting in this one-hour of darkness,” he said during his speech.

Fisher hoped that the people could reduce electricity consumption and help to save the environment.

Love Earth!

“Thank you for staying with us and taking part in the Earth Hour. Together, let’s make this a better place,” he added.

Those who took part in the ‘Shine a Light’ programme were then treated to ice cream and orange juice at the hotel’s Jamboree.

Hotel marcom manager Karen Chee said this was the first time the hotel organised the Earth Hour programme.

“We had our soft launching on Oct 10 last year.

“We are happy to share this meaningful experience with our guests,” she said.
