A TOTAL of 71 Chinese brush painting artists from all over the country have joined forces by participating in a charity exhibition to help a welfare association.
Known as the ‘Kind Art: Chinese Brush Painting Charity Exhibition’, the nine-day exhibition at C-Mart hypermarket in Nibong Tebal is being held from today until Dec 4.
The charity exhibition is jointly organised by the Jawi service centre and Persatuan Kesenian Seberang Perai Selatan.
Persatuan Kesenian Seberang Perai Selatan chairman and organising chairman of the exhibition Ng Hun Kim said there are a total of 135 artworks contributed by 71 Chinese brush painting artists at the exhibition.
“The prices of the artworks range from RM500 to RM18,000.
“Fifty per cent of the proceeds of the sale of the artworks will be donated to the Persatuan Kebajikan Nibong Tebal Seberang Perai to be used for their new building block project.
“Thus, we hope the public will support our cause and donate to the fund,” Ng said in his speech before Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow officiated the opening ceremony of the charity exhibition today.
Also present were Jawi assemblyman Jason H’ng Mooi Lye and newly-elected Nibong Tebal MP Fadhlina Sidek.
Chow commended the Jawi service centre and Persatuan Kesenian Seberang Perai Selatan for the noble initiative.
“Congratulations to all parties involved, especially Jawi assemblyman Jason H’ng Mooi Lye and the Persatuan Kesenian Seberang Perai Selatan for their commitment to making this charity exhibition a reality.
“This kind of charity exhibition certainly has its uniqueness to attract the public to know more about the art of Chinese brush painting and at the same time, donating to a good cause.
“Such exhibition also is rarely being held in the south Seberang Perai (SPS) district.
“Thus, I believe this charity exhibition will be able to attract the locals here and also those from other districts.
“The Penang government also will continue to provide the necessary support to this valuable creative art industry,” he said.
At the same event, Chow also officiated the Penang2030 centre for the Jawi state constituency.
It is located at the C-Mart hypermarket in Nibong Tebal.
H’ng said the centre would be like a community centre to empower people through digital learning and other aspects.
Chow added that as of now, 15 Penang2030 centres have been established in Penang.
“And the state government is committed to ensuring each state constituency will have the Penang2030 centre,” he said.
