DEPUTY Chief Minister II Prof Dr P. Ramasamy has given his full support to Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow to contest in the Batu Kawan parliamentary seat.
“We need him (Chow) in Batu Kawan and we hope that he can represent Batu Kawan in the parliament.
“We hope to receive strong support from the people,” he said.
The Batu Kawan parliamentary constituency consists of Perai, Bukit Tengah and Bukit Tambun state constituencies.
Dr Ramasamy said it was timely for Chow to contest in Batu Kawan as the future of Penang is in Batu Kawan and Seberang Perai.
“We hope that the people will vote for Chow and Harapan,” he said in his speech during the hi-tea session with the Indian community at the Sri Mangalanayagi Amman Temple in Bukit Tengah today.
Chow, who was the guest of honour during the event, thanked Dr Ramasamy for his support.
“We are grateful for the support from the various communities, including the Indian community, in Batu Kawan.
“We took note of the issues raised and they will be looked into to ensure a better living environment,” he said.
Chow also urged the voters to vote wisely for a better future.
“Pakatan Harapan (PH) is the choice to move forward. We pledge to create a bright future for the future generation.
“Your vote is crucial for the people and Malaysia to have a better future,” he said, receiving applause from those present.
Chow also said that investors would have confidence in investing in Malaysia if a stable Government is formed.
“I believe that PH-designated prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is the right and capable person to lead the country,” he said.
Also present during the event were Bukit Tengah assemblyman Gooi Hsiao-Leung, Bagan Dalam assemblyman Satees Muniandy, and the temple committee members.
Earlier, Chow attended a hi-tea session with the women community in Bukit Tambun.
