OUTGOING Penang DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow has left it to the delegates to decide on national party secretary-general Anthony Loke’s suggestion to nominate Human Resources Minister Steven Sim as the next state party leader, with the support of Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying.
“It is a proposal worth considering as the party looks to the future.
“I believe the secretary-general has carefully evaluated this option before proposing the leadership combination of Saudara Sim and Saudari Lim.
“Ultimately, it is up to the delegates to make the final decision,” Chow said.
Chow’s comments follow Loke’s recent interview with a Chinese-language daily, where he revealed the ‘Sim-Lim’ formula.
Loke suggested that Sim take on the leadership role, while Lim would continue serving as the party’s state secretary, stating that their combined leadership would strengthen the party.
The state party polls are scheduled for Sept 22.
