THE voters in the Batu Lancang constituency (N31) has a long history of giving support to the DAP candidates, says caretaker Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.
Chow said this when he launched the Pakatan Harapan Harapan N31 Batu Lancang operation centre at Taman Hijau 3, Jelutong today.
“Batu Lancang is a constituency which the DAP party has been receiving good support from its voters for its candidates for many years even since the 80’s.
“So, I believe the voters in the Batu Lancang constituency will keep supporting us to contribute to the forming of the unity state government.
“Nevertheless, I would like to urge all the unity machineries, especially the DAP machineries, to not take this election campaign lightly.
“We should give our best to convince the voters that we are a serious party that will fight for the rights of its voters as well as bring development to state,” said Chow, who is also the state DAP chairman.
During the ceremony, a short video clip on Batu Lancang candidate, Ong Ah Teong’s achievements since he was elected as the representative for the constituency in 2018, was played.
Responding to the video, Chow said Ong is a leader who is always with the ‘rakyat’ listening to their woes.
“He always brings the issues faced by the residents to the concerned authorities such as Penang Island City Council (MBPP), district land office, and state executive councillors’s offices to help solve the problems,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ong said the operation centre will serve as a place to assist the Batu Lancang voters in checking their voting details.
He also added that should they have any voting-related problems, they are welcome to visit the centre.
Later, Chow together with Ong and team members, went to the Batu Lancang Food Court, where they received a warm welcome from the hawkers and traders there.
