CARETAKER Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who will be contesting as a candidate for the last time in this upcoming state election on Aug 12, has promised to work hard to ensure that all the unity candidates secure a two-thirds majority win.
“Although this is my final term, I still consider this election to be one that requires our serious attention as well as hard work, not just in this place (Padang Kota) but also in other places.
“This is to ensure that all Pakatan Harapan and unity candidates achieve victory as well as attain our target of winning a two-thirds majority.
“I hope this will be another success story. I hope to end my political career in terms of the election with flying colours, not only for me but for the unity team as a whole,” Chow added.
He started his political career as a political secretary to Lim Kit Seang (now Tan Sri) in 1986 when the later was the Tanjong MP.
He then took part in his first election in 1990, winning the Pengkalan Kota seat.

“At that time, the ‘Pakatan Rakyat’ which is now known as ‘Pakatan Harapan’ successfully formed the new state government.
“In 2008, I won the Padang Kota seat, and with that now it is a third term for me with the state government,” Chow added.
Chow assumed the chief ministership on May 14, 2018.
Apart from that, he also expressed his appreciation to the officers from the Election Commission in charge of the nomination process for all three constituencies, namely Padang Kota, Komtar, and Pengkalan Kota, for smoothly conducting the nomination process
