A total of 308 outstanding civil servants under the Penang State Secretariat Office were given the Excellence Service Award at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre today.
They were rewarded with RM1,000 and a certificate each for their high-quality work performance.
The Excellence Service Award ceremony was held in recognition of the effort of outstanding civil servants for the year 2021. The theme was ‘Outstanding Civil Servants, Leading the Penang2030 Vision’.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who was present to officiate the ceremony, thanked the state Human Resources Department and the Penang State Secretariat Office for organising such a meaningful event to recognise the civil servants in the state.
“After not being able to hold such an event due to Covid-19, it is an honour to be in the presence of so many outstanding civil servants today.
“The state is truly proud of you for providing service beyond your capacity in your respective departments. Thank you for helping the state in realising the Penang2030 vision of ‘A Family-Focused Green and Smart State that Inspires the Nation’.
“We hope that you will keep up the good work and achieve bigger things for the state.
“I believe that our biggest challenge is to make Penang better than it already is.
“We must continue to do our best for our state as we are a state that is family-focused, always striving to give everyone a harmonious environment to live in and driving green initiatives for our future generations.
“Moving forward, the state hopes that every civil servant will continue to deliver better results,” Chow said in his speech during the Excellence Service Award ceremony at Setia SPICE Convention Centre in Bayan Lepas today.
As for those who did not receive, Chow urged them to use this platform as a motivation to do even better.
“The day will come when everyone will be recognised for their outstanding contribution and effort,” he said.
Meanwhile, State Secretary Datuk Dr Ahmad Jailani Muhamed Yunus has called for civil servants to stay committed, resilient, dynamic, innovative, and creative in carrying out their responsibilities.
“The pandemic has left a huge message that we must be bold to embrace change in our lives.
“We must stay relevant in today’s fast-growing environment. As civil servants, we must stay on par with the advancements we are currently undergoing.
“Congratulations to all the 308 recipients today.
“The selection this year, unlike any other year, was tough considering the many challenges that we have faced in the last two years.
“Let us all continue to give our best as responsible and civilised civil servants,” Dr Ahmad Jailani said in his speech.
Also present was state Financial Officer Datuk Dr Mohamad Farazi Johari.
