CLARION Malaysia, a trailblazer in in-car audio electronics, is proudly celebrating its 55th anniversary this year, a milestone that marks more than just the passage of time.

It reflects decades of transformation, innovation, and unwavering commitment to excellence.

Established in the early 1970s, Clarion Malaysia was one of the pioneering companies to set up operations in Penang’s Free Industrial Zone.

Over the years, this Malaysian-controlled enterprise has evolved into two distinct entities, namely Clarion Malaysia, a leader in automotive electronics, and Crystal Precision (M) Sdn Bhd, specialising in Outsourced Semiconductor and Test Assembly (OSAT).

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, speaking at the company’s 55th-anniversary dinner held at St Giles Wembley Penang in George Town, lauded Clarion Malaysia for its remarkable journey.

“Clarion Malaysia has not only grown in size but has also positioned itself as a key player in the high-tech automotive and electronics sectors.

“From assembling Porsche Cockpits and Centre Consoles to offering R&D engineering services and Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS), the company has continually moved up the value chain,” he remarked.

Chow emphasised that Clarion’s success story is closely intertwined with Penang’s industrial evolution.

He highlighted Penang’s economic contributions, noting that the state achieved an export value of RM431 billion in the first 11 months of 2024, a 9% year-on-year increase.

“This success is a testament to Penang’s industrialisation journey, and we are proud that Clarion has been an integral part of this story for over five decades,” Chow added.

One of Clarion Malaysia’s most notable achievements is its zero-retrenchment record over the past 54 years, a feat almost unheard of in today’s fast-paced industrial landscape.

This commitment to its workforce underscores the company’s dedication not only to technological advancement but also to its people.

The company’s managing director Tan Teong Khin, and the consul-general of Japan in Penang Machida Shinya were also present at the event, further highlighting the global partnerships that have driven Clarion’s success.
