HUNDREDS of Penang Swimming Club members attended the annual Patron’s Night at the club in Tanjung Bungah today (April 12).
The annual event saw scores of people enjoying themselves, make it a memorable night.
The distinguished guests present to mark the remarkable occasion were Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas, his consort Toh Puan Majimor Shariff and Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.
And also not to be missed were state executive council members Soon Lip Chee and Zairil Khir Johari as well as Penang Swimming Club vice-president Najieb Ariff.
Penang Swimming Club president Lim Shin Lid, in his speech, said the club is a family-orientated club with a closely-knit group of members.
As a testimony that the club is progressing, he said a dragon boat team had been set up early this year.
“The team has been training diligently and should be primed for races locally and overseas by end of this year,” he said.
Many of the club members supported the state and had taken part in the inaugural Asia Pacific Masters Games in Penang last year.
Lim also expressed his gratitude to Abdul Rahman and Majimor for taking the time out of their busy schedule to attend the event.
All of those present were also treated to cultural performances.
