CHIEF Minister Chow Kon Yeow has accepted the new DAP Central Executive Commitee (DAP CEC) line-up for the 2025-2028 term, which mainly comprises younger leaders.
Responding to a reporter’s question during the food basket distribution ceremony at Maliia Bakery on Transfer Road this afternoon, Chow acknowledged the shift toward a new generation within the party.
“This is the decision made by the committee, in line with the transition to younger leadership. Most of those appointed were born in the 70’s and 80’s, whereas I was born in the 50’s,” Chow said, drawing amused reactions from reporters.
Chow added that further appointments to other positions might be made at the discretion of the secretary and other committee members.
The DAP CEC, held on March 16, saw Chow successfully defending his position among the party’s top 30 CEC members, securing 2,101 votes and placing 19th place. He was later appointed as a committee member in the new CEC line-up.
Meanwhile, Anthony Loke Siew Fook retained his post as the DAP secretary-general, while Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo was chosen as the party’s new chairman.
The DAP CEC, as the party’s highest decision-making body, is responsible for setting its direction, formulating policies, and upholding the party constitution.
