WHILE policies pertaining to education are being set by ministry, implementing them effectively in schools requires great leadership.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said educators play a pivotal role in ensuring that policies set by the Government are implemented effectively in schools.

“Each and every one of us – principals, teachers, and the community – have our role to play.

“I have visited a number of schools in Penang and I noticed the performance difference between the schools. I believe that while it is important to introduce good policies, implementing them is also equally important,” Chow said in his speech at the Chinese New Year fiesta in SJK (C) Shih Chung Pusat in Love Lane today.

He thanked the community for their unwavering support towards promoting better quality education.

“Schools, especially as the vernacular schools, need the support of the community and I would like to thank the public for their unending support,” Chow said.

He also thanked the educators for their sacrifices and dedication.

Forty-eight pupils from the school wore their newly designed T-shirt to the fiesta.

Headmistress Boo Cheng Choon said the T-shirt was designed by a special pupil Chuah Yi Tong, nine.
