PENANG Pakatan Harapan will not only take part in the upcoming 15th General Election, but it will be actively taking part and ensure that the people vote out Umno and Barisan Nasional, Penang Pakatan Harapan chairman Chow Kon Yeow said.
Voicing his displeasure, Chow said he was shocked and angry by the statement uttered by Penang Barisan chairman and state Umno chief Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir recently.
According to a news portal, Musa has chided the Pakatan Harapan state governments that he claimed are using the year-end floods as an excuse to avoid the general election.
He had told them not to field candidates in the GE15 if they are serious about the people’s safety.
“If they really do not want the people to suffer then don’t field your candidates for the parliamentary election,” Musa was quoted as saying.
Chow said he was surprised and angry that such a statement could be issued by a Barisan and Umno leader.
“This shows their total disregard for the possibility of the people’s suffering when floods happen during the election period.
Responding to a question by a journalist, Chow said: “We will DEFINITELY take part in the parliamentary election. We will not only take part, but we will also ACTIVELY take part and ensure that the people vote them out. Period.”
Separately, on the dates of the dissolution of Pakatan Harapan state assemblies, Chow said no discussion has been held to discuss the matter.
“For now, our focus is the parliamentary election. I believe Pakatan Harapan will ensure the three Pakatan states coordinate on the issue, but we have not started discussing it,” he said.
