CHIEF Minister Chow Kon Yeow is maintaining a low profile ahead of the Democratic Action Party (DAP) Central Executive Committee (CEC) election, which will take place at the party’s 18th National Congress on March 16.

When asked by a reporter after attending the i-Sejahtera Programme at Bilik Gerakan in Komtar today whether he is eyeing the party chairman’s post, Chow responded, “I prefer to keep a low profile in the election, so I’ll stay that way.”

Pressed further on speculation that he is likely to be the next chairman, he simply said, “I’d prefer not to comment. If I comment, that will be high-key already.”

Chow, a CEC member and vice-chairman since 2004, has previously stated that holding a position within the party is crucial, as it enables him to be part of the leadership team and contribute effectively to the state’s development.
