CM Chow takes on heavier responsibilities, coordinates state’s development issues

PENANG Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow has been appointed as the new Penang Development Action Council (MTPNg) chairman.

In a short announcement, Chow said he had just informed that he was appointed as the new Penang MTPNg chairman.

“It is not a new position under the Federal Government. Usually, the Chief Minister or the Menteri Besar of the state will be appointed as MTPNg chairman.

“I was the council’s chairman for 22 months during the previous Pakatan Harapan’s Federal rule and we held several meetings.

“Then, there was a change (in chairmanship) as Penang was ‘not part of the Federal Government’ after the fall of the Pakatan Harapan Federal Government.

“Another politician was later chosen by the Prime Minister’s Department as the Penang MTPNg chairman,” Chow spoke about what had previously transpired.

Fast forward, Chow said he welcomed his appointment as the new Penang MTPNg chairman.

“The MTPNg is a council which coordinates state and Federal development matters.

“It involves Federal, state and local authority machinery in managing development issues, especially infrastructure matters in the state,” he said.
