THE community of Tanjung Tokong was treated to a delightful Chinese New Year celebration at Straits Green today – thanks to E&O Group.
The guests were treated to colourful dance performances besides a sumptuous meal at the event.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow lauded the Group’s green efforts in his speech.
“I can still recall the day when former Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng launched the four-acre Straits Green public park in 2013.
“Since then, this place has been the venue for many community events and activities; especially for residents of Seri Tanjung Pinang and its surroundings.
“Credit must be given to E&O Group for landscaping this beautiful space and for its continuous support in maintaining and managing the park for the past six years,” Chow said today.
He also commended the Group for establishing the Think Green Community Education Programme in 2014.
“The programme focuses on the young, nurturing them to be eco-conscious, and promotes a healthy lifestyle.
“The programme, which started off with just one participating school, now has six participating schools involving 950 students.
“This initiative has contributed positively to the society,” he added.
Chow said the green initiatives by E&O Group were in tandem with the Penang2030 vision.
Also present were state executive council members Datuk Abdul Halim Hussain and Zairil Khir Johari, state assemblymen Chris Lee (Pulau Tikus) and Jason Ong (Kebun Bunga) and E&O Berhad Group corporate strategy director Lyn Chai.
