A SPECIAL prayer, organised by the Penang Hindu Endowments Board (PHEB), took place today at the Shree Ganesha Temple, Waterfall, to seek peace for countries affected by war.
Its chairman, RSN Rayer, thanked the Hindu community, especially the representatives from the Malaysia Hindu Sangam Penang State Council, Malaysia Hindudharma Maamandram, other non-governmental organisations and individuals who participated in the prayer.
“We have gathered here today to seek God’s blessings for global peace and to pray for deliverance from the various forms of suffering affecting people worldwide.
“Our collective hope is to foster harmony and alleviate distress through our shared spiritual efforts,” Rayer said during the ‘Unity Peace Prayer’ session.
This gathering was in response to the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh and the ongoing war in Gaza, aiming to seek peace and relief for those impacted by these crises.
Also present were, Penang Island City Council (MBPP) Datuk A.Rajendran, PHEB deputy chairman Senator Dr R.A. Lingeshwaran, and commissioners Kumaran Krishnan and Dinesh Nagan.
Meanwhile, Malaysia Hindu Sangam Penang State Council chairman A.Tharman praised PHEB for pioneering the collective prayer initiative.
He expressed hope that temple managements and schools would emulate this practice by holding similar prayer sessions.
“Such prayer sessions are important for unity and world peace. Our organisation will give full support for this collective prayers initiative,” Tharman added.
