IN conjunction with the 54th anniversary of the Penang State Museum, the public is invited to join the programme – ‘A Night at No. 57, Macalister’ on April 13 and 14.
Those interested have until April 11 (Thursday) to register with entries limited to only 50 participants on a first come first served basis.
The fees are RM50 for adults, RM25 for OKU and RM30 for students, including meals and limited edition T-shirt.
“This programme will give the participants the experience and sweet memories of spending a night at the museum.
“We hope the public, including students, will be able to acquire an in-depth knowledge of heritage sites in the city, like the Penang State Museum through similar programme,” Tourism Development, Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said when he officiated the launch of the programme at the Penang State Museum, No. 57, Jalan Macalister this morning.
Also present was the Penang State Museum director Haryani Mohamad.
Yeoh said the programme, being held for the fifth time, was aimed at giving the public, exposure and experience of the museum, which is more than 100 years old.
“The building was formerly known as the Memorial King Edward VII Hospital, which also served as a maternity hospital,” Yeoh, who is also the Penang Museum Board chairman, said.
On the opening day of the programme on April 13, participants will get a briefing from 7pm to 7.30pm, followed by dinner (7.30pm to 8.15pm), gather at the main entrance (8.15pm), Night Show-Opening Ceremony of Penang State Museum 54th Anniversary (8.45pm) which includes a Night Tour to the Mortuary Room, Post-Mortem Room, Exhibition Room, Bedtime Stories, Screening.
This would be followed by Supper (12.00am), night activities like a treasure hunt, etc and then it would be bedtime at 1am.
On April 14th, after breakfast (7.30am-8.15am) and light exercise (8.30am-8.50am), the events arranged are Jack The Killer Game (9am-9.30am), activities (9.30am-10.30am), Slots PSAG’s Retrospective Artists (10.30am-11.30am).
There will be a presentation of certificates to the participants and prizes to the winners during lunch (12.00pm-1pm) before dismissal.
Among the artists who will join the programme are Cheung Pooi Yip, Datuk Chong Hon Fatt and Teh Ee Ming.
