DISCOVER the wonders of Penang Hill during the Penang Hill Festival 2019 (PHF2019) and be amazed with what nature has to offer.
The second Penang Hill Festival, themed ‘See the nature. Feel the history’, will be held from July 18 to 21 on the hill.
Exciting programmes and activities are set to please visitors during the four-day celebration.
Penang Hill Corporation (PHC) general manager Cheok Lay Leng welcomed visitors to take part in the free guided nature and heritage walks.
“This is the chance for visitors to check out the exotic plants of Penang Hill. Nature and heritage lovers must not miss this opportunity to know more about the hill.
“Apart from its amazing scenery and greenery, Penang Hill is also rich in heritage.
“The guided nature walk has two sessions – at 9.30am and 2.30pm, while the guided heritage walk will be conducted at 11.30am and 4.30pm. These walks are available throughout the four-day celebration.
“The gathering point will be at the Dataran of Penang Hill,” Cheok said.
The more adventurous visitors would be delighted to join the night exploration, where they are able to explore Penang Hill in the dark and catch a glimpse of some shy nocturnal animals in their natural habitat.
The meeting point for the two-hour night exploration is at the Dataran. It will be held from 8pm to 10pm on July 18 and 19. Admission is RM30 per person.
Cheok said music lovers must not miss the opportunity to visit the hill on July 20.
“The Music on the Hill: East Meets West will feature a 60-piece orchestral band playing tunes from the East and the West.
“The Joyous Chinese Orchestra and the students from St George’s Girls’ School will also be entertaining the crowd that evening.
“It will be held from 3pm to 6pm on July 20 at the Dataran. Admission is free,” he said.
Among the other activities lined up were the rainforest exploration, Penang Hill photo exhibition, nature classroom, Entopia ‘Up Close With Crawlies’, and ‘Wild Roads’ by Langur Project Penang.
