OVER 400 primary students from schools within the Padang Kota constituency were chosen to receive free helmets as part of a corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme by Koperasi Pumas Berhad and Kurnia Insurance.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow underscored the paramount importance of prioritising safety on the road.
“We need to educate our young ones to prioritise their safety by wearing helmets regardless of the distance they are traveling.”
These remarks were made during his speech at the ‘Adiwira Helmet’ distribution ceremony held at the Padang Kota service centre.
Chow expressed gratitude to Koperasi Pumas Berhad founding chairman Datuk Lawrence Low for spearheading the distribution of ‘Adiwira Helmets’ through the CSR programme in the Padang Kota constituency and nationwide.
He voiced hope that such initiatives would extend to other constituencies in Penang.
Highlighting the programme’s broader impact, Chow revealed that, since 2020, a total of 15,000 helmets had been distributed in various states across Malaysia through the CSR programme.
The ‘Adiwira Helmets’ reached students from nine schools, including SJKC Aik Hua, SJKC Shih Chung Pusat, SJKC Union, SK Perempuan Methodist, SK Hutchings, SRK Perempuan Island, SRK Wellesley, SRK Pendidikan Khas, and SRK Sri Tanjung within the Padang Kota constituency.
