THE current Penang government administration is optimistic that it can achieve about 90% of the Penang2030 strategic initiatives should it get the mandate for another next five years.
The Penang2030 vision focuses on improving liveability, economy, civic participation and balanced development to achieve a ‘A Family-Focused Green and Smart State that Inspires the Nation’.
The vision was rolled out by Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, after just three months of becoming the Penang Chief Minister in 2018.
Chow said the target is achievable by the end of the next term, which is in 2028.
“Such a target is not impossible as we have already achieved 47% of the Penang2030 vision’s strategic initiatives since the vision was launched in 2018.
“We are confident that we will be able to achieve about 90% of the Penang2030 vision which includes some important infrastructure projects.
“If some of the projects are not completed by that time, we should reach at least around 50 to 60% completion rate.
“This is what we are offering to the youth and the people of Penang.
“The current leadership of the state government remains committed to continuing its efforts and commitment to realising the Penang2030 vision in the remaining seven years,” Chow told reporters when asked about the matter at Design Village Outlet Mall in Bandar Cassia.
Earlier today, he was there to officiate the launching ceremony of the solar energy system at the mall.
Chow added that the Penang2030 vision would also be the main component of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition manifesto for the upcoming state election.
“We are offering this vision of a sustainable future to the people of Penang and the younger generation.
“And we hope that we will get the mandate again to realise this vision,” he said.
