IN the spirit of community, individuals from all walks of life took part in the ‘Shine in Gold Charity Centennial Run’, celebrating the 100th anniversary of Penang Adventist Hospital (PHA).

The 4km fun run, which saw participation from around 1,500 people, aimed to raise funds for the hospital’s charity fund, the Dr. J. Earl Gardner Fund. A total of RM283,662 was raised through the event.

Pulau Tikus assemblyman Joshua Woo, who was present at the event held last weekend on July 28, said that the event reflects the community’s spirit and unity.

“Each participant, no matter how small their contribution, made a significant difference.

“Together, we bring hope to patients in need.

“The event was not just a run but a beacon of hope for those relying on the Dr J. Earl Gardner Fund, which helps needy patients undergoing major surgeries.

“Every step and every dollar raised will directly impact these patients, ensuring they receive the medical care and support they need,” he added.

Woo was representing state Youth, Sports, and Health Committee chairman Daniel Gooi as the guest of honour at the event.

Meanwhile, PHA chief executive officer (CEO) Albin Pua said that the hospital is committed to healing, caring, and supporting those in need.

“As we celebrate this milestone, we acknowledge and thank God for his guidance and blessings.

“It is through His grace that we have been able to serve our community for a century.

“We are truly blessed to be part of this incredible journey, and we look forward to the future with faith and hope.

“Our mission is clear: with your continued support, we will keep making a positive impact for many years to come.

“Throughout the years, we have been blessed to touch countless lives, providing healing, comfort, and hope to those in need,” he added.

Also present was PAH group president Ronald Koh.
