THE International Congress and Conferences on Computational Design and Engineering (I3CDE) 2019 will be held in Malaysia for the very first time and Penang is the proud host of the four-day conference which is set from July 7 to 10 at the ParkRoyal Penang Resort.
The I3CDE is organised by the Society for Computational Design and Engineering from South Korea and co-hosted by buildingSMART Korea, Asian Conference on Design and Digital Engineering (ACDDE), The Korea Contents Association, Korea Smart Factory Foundation and Korea Smart Manufacturing Industry Association and supported by Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB).
“This congress will provide a good platform for experts from around the world to gather to discuss major issues and challenges and ways to rectify them in order to bring improvement in the fields of IT and engineering.
“Penang is a major international hub for IT, and R&D in the fields of engineering and medical technology. There is a large concentration of experts in the fields of IT, computing and engineering that have made Penang their base.
“I hope that event will enhance the growth in terms of research in relation to the field, whereby connections will be made through network of experts benefiting both Malaysians and the community across the globe,” Penang state exco member Yeoh Soon Hin told a press conference today.
PCEB chief executive officer Ashwin Gunasekeran shared some statistical figures with regards to the Business Events and meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) industry in Penang.
“IT sector in Penang has been on the rise. In 2017, Penang hosted 88 conferences related to IT sectors and in the year 2018, it slightly went up to 105 conferences. We are looking for an 30 % of increase for this year.
“Beside the IT sector, the medical sectors, education and government-related conferences are also on the rise,” said Ashwin.
The congress is expected to have some 500 participants from Asia Pacific, Europe, North America and Malaysia.
Also present at the press conference were Prof Inhan Kim from University Korea, I3CDE organising chairman Prof R.U. Gobithaasan from University Malaysia Terengganu and Aimpro director Alice Lem.
