Consider stock investing to grow wealth

IN the bid to educate the public on the whereabouts of investment, Bursa Malaysia organised the ‘MarketPlace @ Penang Fair’ ‘at Spice Convention Centre today.

The event, which was officiated by Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng in the morning, had some 10,000 visitors checking on the information offered by the participating exhibitors (24 booths).

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who attended the event’s closing ceremony, encouraged the public to venture into the many platforms put forth by Bursa such as the Bursa MarketPlace.

“I would like to reiterate what was earlier mentioned by the Minister of Finance that Retail Investor participation in the market is very important,” Chow said in his speech.

“Investing in the stock market provides opportunities to all Malaysians to grow their wealth.

“There are plenty of internationally recognised and global leading companies listed on Bursa, and currently 80 of those listed on Bursa Malaysia are from Penang. So, I urge everyone here today to start considering stock investing as part of your asset allocation.

“Explore into the various platforms provided and innovated by Bursa Malaysia such as the Bursa MarketPlace that provides various learning tools and applications for investors of all levels of sophistication.”

“We need to continue to increase our awareness for all Malaysians whether young or old on having savings and long term investment as it is deemed as something crucial.

“Bursa is committed to ensure that the people are well equipped with the right knowledge so as to become ‘informed investors’ and achieve their financial goals in the capital market.

“This is a place (Bursa Malaysia) where there is enough market integrity and enough governance and I hope that the visitors, young and old here today, will bring home some food for thought,” said Tajuddin during his speech.
