THE panel of judges for the Buletin Mutiara’s Colouring Contest (Bakat Si Cilik – Mewarna) and ‘Experience Penang – Ilustrasi Anda’ poster drawing competition had a tough time choosing the winners following the conclusion of the two competitions.
The judges involved during the selection process that was held at the Buletin Mutiara office in Komtar today were Permatang Pasir assemblyman Muhammad Faiz Fadzil, Batu Uban assemblyman A. Kumaresan and Pulau Tikus assemblyman Chris Lee Chun Kit.
The initial round selection for both competitions, which started from January 15 until April 30, has been finalised today.
During that period, a total of 500 entries for the colouring contest and 300 entries for the poster drawing competition have been received.
Winners for Bakat Si Cilik – Mewarna have the chance to bag the top three cash prizes of RM600, RM400 and RM200. There will also be five consolation prizes including travel and hotel vouchers.
Meanwhile, for the poster drawing competition, winners have the chance to bag the top three cash prizes of RM700, RM500 and RM300.
All the selected winners will be notified by Buletin Mutiara and the decisions made are final.
Kumaresan said it was difficult for them to choose the winners for both competitions as most of the entries are unique and full of creativity.
“I think all of them are winners. They have some good skills and creativity in their artworks. Each of them is so talented even at such a young age. But we do our best to choose the best ones.
“I would like to praise Buletin Mutiara for organising such competitions where I was told that hundreds of entries were received this time and some are from other states such as Sabah, Sarawak and Perak.
“This shows that Buletin Mutiara is not only known in Penang but also in other states.
“I hope such competitions will continue to be held from time to time,” he said.
Meanwhile, Lee is delighted to see many talented kids who participated in the colouring and drawing competitions.
“We got so many talented kids. And when they grow up, they can even venture into the field of art as their career.
“After all, art is one of the fields under the creative economy that is being highly prioritised by the state government through the Penang Tourism and Creative Economy (Petace) office.
“So, there will be plenty of opportunities for them in this field,” said Lee.
Muhammad Faiz said the colouring and drawing competitions organised by Buletin Mutiara could help to promote the state in terms of tourism.
“This is because most of the themes for both competitions are related to the tourist attractions in Penang.
“Such competitions should be continued.
“At the same time, I hope the next competition can focus more on Seberang Perai’s best attractions. Maybe they can organise a photography contest or others,” he said.
