RESIDENTS of Ghee Hiang Garden finally have a spot to relax in their neighbourhood park.
A gazebo costing RM13,650 was recently built beside the basketball court so that people can now enjoy the park under the cool shade.
Exco member for Tourism Development and Culture Law Heng Kiang was at Ghee Hiang Garden’s park to officiate the newly built gazebo on Nov 12.
“I hope that these efforts to upgrade our constituency will make Batu Lanchang a better, more comfortable and safer area than it already is,” said Law, who is Batu Lanchang assemblymember, during a short interview with the media.
Among the efforts done to upgrade Batu Lanchang were installation of exercise equipment at Central Park which cost RM10,600 and installation of fire hose reels in Kurau Road Flats, Taman Koperasi Jelutong which cost RM26,182.
There are still two ongoing projects – the toilet upgrades for 35 Penang Island City Council (MBPP) low-cost apartment units in Jelutong which cost RM52,500 and the installation of exercise equipment in Taman Kejiranan, Lorong Gemilang which cost RM12,773.
All of these upgrades total up to a cost of RM115,705 which is from Law’s constituency fund.
Apart from launching the gazebo, Law also held a simple luncheon for the residents and the MBPP workers to mark Deepavali.
