BEING thoughtful of the healthcare system in the state, a couple have come forward to donate four oxygen concentrators and 20 pulse oximeters to the Penang Hospital and Kepala Batas Hospital.
D’Home Mental Health Association president Datuk Leslie Lee and his wife, Neoh Guan Eng, presented the units to representatives of the state Health Department at Komtar today. The simple presentation ceremony was also witnessed by the state Welfare and Environment Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh.
Lee said he hoped that the contribution would help to enhance the medical facilities at both the hospitals.
“It really saddens us to see the challenges faced by our medical frontliners during this pandemic, thus we felt that we should play a part to enhance the healthcare system in Penang.
“These oxygen concentrators are able to supply oxygen for 24 hours as long as they are connected to the power supply, unlike the oxygen tank which can run out of oxygen and will then require us to refill it.
“It is also movable and easier to handle,’’ said Lee after the presentation ceremony.
The couple also donated 100 walking sticks.
Phee ceremony thanked them for their contribution.
“The state government appreciates the kind gesture of Datuk Lee and his wife for their timely contribution during this crucial time.
“This will act as an encouragement to the all the frontliners though they are burdened with work. It will also drive them to continue serving the community,’’ added Phee.
Earlier, Phee received 11,200 pieces of face mask and 1,080 bottles (1litre) of sanitisers from Chic En Smart Management.
