STUDENTS from SMJK Heng Ee and SMK Jelutong were today told to refrain themselves from involving in any drug menace and crime activities.
The advice was given by none other than Penang Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department chief SAC Datuk Mohamad Anil Shah when he officiated an educational and development programme at SMJK Heng Ee in Hamilton today.
He said drugs would destroy one’s future once taken at a young age, adding that many of the youngsters nowadays have the urge to try them due to their age and peer influence in school.
“Please, don’t ever try it even for once. It will harm your whole life. You will regret,” Anil repeatedly told the students from the two secondary schools.
Anil said students need to know the consequences if they take the wrong path.
On top of that, Anil expressed hopes students that they would know their role and strive to study hard for the sake of a better future.
He said parents and teachers also play an important role to ensure the children are well taught and brought up.
Batu Lanchang assemblyman Ong Ah Teong thanked the agencies for making the event a success.
He said it was a commitment from his constituency office to ensure that the students were aware of pitfalls.
“Teenagers’ social ills are an important topic to be discussed and should be viewed seriously,” he stressed.
