THE Penang Tamil Cultural Association has launched its third Tamil poetry book, titled ‘Anthathi Paravaigal’ today.
The poetry book was written by its chairman S. Gunalan.
Gunalan said it is the third poetry book written by him as the association chairman.
“The book was supposed to be launched back in 2019 but it got delayed several times due to the lockdown caused by the Covid-19 situation.
“I am glad that I can finally launch the book today.
“The poetry book contains 105 pages and is a collection of poems that focuses on human rights, cultural values, Tamil history, community portrayal and behaviour.
“The poetry book is priced at RM20 and the public can get it by contacting me at 013-4853128.
“The poetry book will soon be sold in physical bookstores that will be announced at a later date.
“For now, it is only available in Tamil language but I have planned to translate it to other languages such as Bahasa Malaysia, English, and Chinese for the upcoming edition,” said Gunalan in his speech before Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow launched the book at Auditorium C on Level 5 in Komtar today.
Also present were Bagan Dalam assemblyman Satees Muniandy and Penang Tamil Cultural Association adviser Datuk G. Mariadass.
Chow congratulated Gunalan for his efforts in producing the poetry book.
“I was informed that this was his third poetry book that is full of moral values and history about the Indian community.
“The state government is always supportive of the efforts of any organisation or individual for striving towards a knowledgeable society.
“It is in line with the state government’s efforts in realising the Penang2030 vision of ‘A Family-Focused Green and Smart State that Inspires the Nation’.
“We always encourage the people to inculcate the reading habits regardless of age because we believe that reading is one of the main factors to produce quality and excellent human capital,” he said.
