THE contributions of veteran leaders to the Democratic Action Party (DAP) should never be forgotten, given their immense sacrifices for the party.
Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who is also the state DAP chairman, stated that DAP veteran leaders have played a crucial role in the party’s success and current standing.
“From its beginnings in the Opposition, DAP has grown to become a part of the Government at both the state and Federal levels.
“This achievement would not have been possible without the significant contributions of our veteran leaders, who have sacrificed greatly to ensure the party’s success. It is not easy to achieve this.
“DAP has been established for over 50 years, and many of our veterans have been with the party since its inception, through both its highs and lows.
“Many of these veteran leaders continue to stand by us today, consistently supporting the party.
“On behalf of the party, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all of them for their immense contributions,” Chow said in his speech during the Bukit Mertajam DAP Veterans Club Grand Dinner at Vangohh Eminent Hotel in Machang Bubuk this evening.
The dinner was held to appreciate DAP veteran leaders in the state.
Also present were DAP national chairman Lim Guan Eng; DAP national organising secretary Steven Sim Chee Keong, who is also the Human Resources Minister; Penang DAP secretary Lim Hui Ying, who is also the Deputy Finance Minister; Bukit Mertajam DAP Veterans Club chairman Ng Keng Tong and National DAP Veterans Club chairman Lay Hock Peng.
Chow also urged young leaders in DAP to emulate the dedication and contributions of the veterans.
He called on veteran leaders to set a good example for the younger generation, stressing that their actions and contributions should serve as a source of inspiration.
